THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GOLDEN PAVILION (C Habib) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) BOMPAS (D Schwarz) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, GOLDEN PAVILION (C Habib) was brushed in by PIKE PLACE (C Maujean), which jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) GOLDEN PAVILION (C Habib) over-raced in the early and middle stages. c) BOMPAS (D Schwarz) raced green on debut. Thereafter, BOMPAS (D Schwarz), which came under pressure from the 500m, commenced to give ground to the field. As a result, Jockey D Schwarz did not persevere with his riding from the 200m. In view of this performance, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) Jockey G Lerena, the rider of VIVA DE JANEIRO, accidentally dropped his crop at the 100m. e) VIVA DE JANEIRO (G Lerena), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
