a) BURNING MOON (Y Ramzan) rushed the front gates and thereafter jumped slow, losing two lengths.
b) HOLLY'S VIEW (S Khathi) jumped awkwardly and thereafter was slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) Approaching the 200m FOR ALL WE KNOW (R Fourie) was bumped by EASY LIVING (D Schwarz), which shifted out and had to be straightened. Jockey D Schwarz appeared before the Board and was advised that the Stewards expect him to straighten his mounts sooner than he had on this occasion.
b) Leaving the 100m FOR ALL WE KNOW (R Fourie) had to be steadied when awkwardly placed between MEREDITH GREY (C Maujean), which shifted out slightly and AERIAL VIEW (S Naidoo), which shifted in when awkwardly placed close to the heels of DEMIGOD (S Khumalo), which was hanging in and shifted in.
c) MEREDITH GREY (C Maujean) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended, for a period of 60 days, from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr M Bawden)
d) Jockey M Yeni reported that SILVERY BLUE did not stride out freely in running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
e) In view of the performance of BURNING MOON (Y Ramzan) the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
f) Jockey S Khumalo was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking DEMIGOD more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey S Khumalo signed an admission of guilt and was fined R35 000.00 and suspended for 14 days (dates to be advised). In determining penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey S Khumalo's record and the number of strikes. (14)
