THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GIMME'S LASSIE (K de Melo) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) After leaving the parade ring correctly shod, SHE'S MY CAPTAIN (C Bantam) lifted its right front shoe on the way to the start, which had to be re-fitted, causing a delay. b) Jockey K Matsunyane reported that he felt something amiss with SPYWING and eased this filly out of the race at the 350m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) SPYWING (K Matsunyane) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended, for a period of 60 days, from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr E Reynders) d) Jockey J Solomons (BODY ELECTRIC) dropped his crop at the 50m. e) KWINTA'S LIGHT, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised.
