THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start, HEREINAFTER (*T Mayhew) which was slow into stride, was brushed by TRAFALGAR SQUARE (S Khumalo) which was carried out by IMPARTIAL (*S Hlengwa), which jumped out leaving the starting stalls. b) Entering the straight TRAFALGAR SQUARE (S Khumalo) was steadied when racing in close proximity to the heels of MAGWINYA (K de Melo). c) SHOT OF COURAGE (*K J Lihaba) was hanging in from the 300m. d) WILL O ME (S Moodley) was hanging in from the 500m e) Jockey S Moodley reported that he felt something amiss with WILL O ME in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) Apprentice T Mayhew (HEREINAFTER) completed a satisfactory qualifying ride. a) Jockey D Daniels signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the carded weight on IMPARTIAL, resulting in a change of rider. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed. h) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning SHOT OF COURAGE, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended for a period of 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Suspension dates (25.07.2023 - 22.09.2023). Trainer T Pretorius was advised (RS). g) SHOT OF COURAGE (*K J Lihaba), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
