THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) TRIED AND TRUE (M Yeni) was nervous in the stalls.
b) MY AMI BEACH (R Khathi) kicked the back gates in the starting stalls and thereafter was slow into stride.
c) LOOKING HOT (J Gates) and SUMMER ODYSSEY (S Khathi) were slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) Jockey C Maujean reported that I LIKE IT HOT made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
b) Jockey R Fourie reported that he felt something amiss with EXECUTOR (Betting 9/2; Distance 45.80 lengths) and he did not persevere with his riding from the 300m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
c) Jockey A Andrews reported that MAGNETIC DIME changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare.
d) Jockey M Mjoka was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking BAUBLES AND BEADS more than 12 times in the entire race. Jockey M Mjoka signed an admission of guilt and was fined R3000,00. In determining penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey M Mjoka's record and the number of strikes (13).
e) Jockey D Schwarz was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the carded weight on MOTHER OF PEARL. Jockey D Schwarz signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1500.00.
f) LOOKING HOT, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer JP Nel was advised. (LM)
