THE STARTER REPORTED: a) During the loading process, RABOBI (N Klink) became restless, broke the front gate open, was restrained by the Rider and Handler and the gates were reset. b) PIKE PLACE (C Maujean), ROCK OF AGES (J Penny) and STREWN SKY (G Lerena) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) COPPER JOHN (*K A Brewer) raced wide around the turn in the early stages. b) At approximately the 150m, BREATH OF MAGIC (*R A Venniker) was carried out by COPPER JOHN (*K A Brewer), which shifted out away from the crop. A race review was called by a member of the Stipendiary Board, in the presence of Apprentice R A Venniker and National Riding Master, Mr R Moore. After reviewing this incident, the Board could not be comfortably satisfied that the result had been affected and therefore took no further action. c) In view of the performance of PIKE PLACE (C Maujean), (distance 7,75 lengths, betting 7/2), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) Jockey J Penny reported that ROCK OF AGES changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) COPPER JOHN (*K A Brewer), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A G Laird advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) ROCK OF AGES raced equipped with blinkers (declared 31 July 2023 at 08H06). b) BROADWAY raced equipped with blinkers (declared 1 August 2023 at 07H38). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) PIKE PLACE examined post race, nothing obvious detected. b) ROCK OF AGES not striding out right front and right hind.
