THE STARTER REPORTED: a) AMERICAN HASHTAG (D Ashby) was nervous in the stalls. b) VALYRIAN SWORD (C Maujean) and PEMBROKE (M Yeni) were nervous in the stalls and thereafter were slow into stride. c) THE CHARIOTEER (L Mxothwa) and DASHING LEGEND (Y Ramzan) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Approaching the 50m GIMME A DIAMOND (C Zackey), which initially rolled out slightly, was bumped on the hindquarters by PEMBROKE (M Yeni), which shifted in slightly away from the crop. As a consequence, GIMME A DIAMOND (C Zackey) was turned outwards and then shifted outwards, resulting in PEMBROKE (M Yeni) clipping the heels of GIMME A DIAMOND (C Zackey) and stumbling. The Stewards, after reviewing the patrol film of this incident, were satisfied that a charge against either rider could not be sustained and took no further action. b) Jockey D Ashby reported that AMERICAN HASHTAG, which gave ground to the field quickly from the 800m, coughed in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) GIMME A DIAMOND, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GD Smith was advised.
