There was a significant delay to the commencement of the Racemeeting due to a Grooms protest at Turffontein racecourse, which resulted in concerns being raised regarding the safety of horses and riders. Following the protest, negotiations took place between various parties and the protesting Grooms dispersed which satisfied the Stipendiary Stewards that racing could continue without any threat of violence. Subsequently race times were rescheduled. LIGHTOFTHEUNICORN was slow losing one length. OCEANS PRIDE was slow losing two lengths. GLITTER PATH was slow losing three lengths and thereafter slow into stride. SOVEREIGNTY was difficult to load and unruly in stalls. Scratched by the Course Veterinary Surgeon. The Starting Stall Certificate for this filly has been withdrawn. In view of the Starter's report with regard to SOVEREIGNTY, this filly was suspended for a period of 7 days and until recertified tractable loading into the stalls and jumping on terms with a companion. SOVEREIGNTY may not be presented for repassing during this period. At approximately the 1200m, THANDEKHILE which commenced to over-race, had to steady when awkwardly placed between LIGHTOFTHEUNICORN and OCEANS PRIDE. SAMOA hung out from the 400m. QUEEN OF SOUL was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Sham was questioned regarding the poor performance of QUEEN OF SOUL on 9 November 2019. In this regard, she was unable to provide any suitable explanation. Accordingly, Trainer Sham's attention was drawn to the Rules pertaining to In and Out running and advised that this filly's performances will continue to be monitored by the Board in future. Jockey Maujean was charged with a contravention, read with Guideline M on the use of the crop, in that he struck the horse QUEEN OF SOUL more than twelve times in the entire race. Jockey Maujean signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine was imposed. GLITTER PATH raced without pacifiers and equipped with ear muffs.
