THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SIBERIAN STEEL (C Zackey) jumped inwards. b) STORMY SEAS (JP van der Merwe) jumped slow, losing one length. c) COVERT OPERATOR (G Lerena) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start COVERT OPERATOR (G Lerena) was carried in by BRONCO BLITZ (D Schwarz), which was bumped in by SIBERIAN STEEL (C Zackey). b) Approaching the 250m Jockey D Schwarz felt something amiss with BRONCO BLITZ and eased this gelding out of the race. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) BRONCO BLITZ (D Schwarz) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended, for a period of 60 days, from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr M Bawden) d) Shortly before the finish line AXEL COLLINS (A Mgudlwa) was momentarily inconvenienced when carried out marginally by SUCCESSFUL SECRET (*DB Geerthsen), which in turn was carried out marginally by POWER BROKER (M Yeni), which shifted out away from the crop. As a consequence, Jockey A Mgudlwa was unable to fully assist AXEL COLLINS out to the end of the race. e) AXEL COLLINS (A Mgudlwa) was hanging in throughout. f) POWER BROKER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AP Peter was advised.
