THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) KINGDOM OF HEAVEN (B Fayd'Herbe) jumped with its head in the air.
b) SAINT SILAS (S Veale) and GUY ALEXANDER (L Mxothwa) were slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) The starting stalls had to be positioned on the track, causing a delay.
b) Leaving the 1000m KINGDOM OF HEAVEN (B Fayd'Herbe) was ridden forward and to the front of the field before entering the straight.
c) Approaching the 100m EXCEEDER (R Fourie) was directed outwards away from the heels of a tiring KINGDOM OF HEAVEN (B Fayd'Herbe), then had to be steadied when carried out marginally by KINGDOM OF HEAVEN (B Fayd'Herbe). While being steadied, EXCEEDER (R Fourie) then shifted out and made contact with the hindquarters of PEUT ETRE MOI (M Yeni) which, as a consequence, was turned inwards and unbalanced shortly before the finish.
d) In view of the performance of ALFRED'S GIRL (K Steyn), which tired quickly in the latter stages, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare.
e) Trainer PD Wrensch was charged with a contravention of Rule 49.1 (read with Local Condition 5.1.2) in that he failed to do his scratchings by the close of declarations, which resulted in GUY ALEXANDER being deemed to be an acceptor. Trainer PD Wrensch signed an Admission of Guilt and was given a warning.
f) Jockey G van Niekerk was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of FALLO ANCORA he misused his crop by striking FALLO ANCORA more than twelve times (13) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey G van Niekerk signed an admission of guilt and was fined R2000,00.
g) FALLO ANCORA, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised. (TJ)
h) GUY ALEXANDER, unplaced, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer PD Wrensch was advised. (DD)
