THE STARTER REPORTED: a) RULERSHIP (T Godden) jumped awkwardly and was slow into stride. b) ISHNANA (T Mayhew) lost 1 length and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) FAUSTINO (J Jacobs) jumped out leaving the starting stalls making contact with COIN SPINNER (*K J Lihaba). As a result, COIN SPINNER (*K J Lihaba) and TCHAIKOVSKY (A Mgudlwa) made contact resulting in TCHAIKOVSKY (A Mgudlwa) becoming unbalanced and Jockey A Mgudlwa being subsequently dislodged. b) At the 400m FAUSTINO (J Jacobs) and COIN SPINNER (*K J Lihaba) took evasive action to avoid the loose horse. Thereafter, at the 250m, RULERSHIP (T Godden) was eased off the heels of the loose horse. c) At the 150m, GET IN THE Q (C Zackey) was eased off the heels of DONQUERARI (C Maujean) which was hanging in from the 400m, proving difficult to assist and shifted in sharply. d) In view of the performance of FAUSTINO (J Jacobs) (8.95 lengths, 16/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) Due to being dislodged shortly after the start, Jockey A Mgudlwa (TCHAIKOVSKY) was incapacitated from weighing in. In terms of Rule 66.2 his weight was deemed to be correct. f) DONQUERARI (C Maujean), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer L W Goosen advised (NS). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) RULERSHIP : Scalp wound right hind. b) FAUSTINO : Nothing obvious detected. THE MEDICAL OFFICER REPORTED : a) Jockey A Mgudlwa was examined after being dislodged in this race and was found to have a suspected sprained right shoulder. Was passed fit to continue riding.
