THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PUBLIC BENEFIT (M Yeni) was nervous in the stalls and rushed the front gate. b) BEAU KALA (D Schwarz) was nervous in the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start HOLLY'S VIEW (R Fourie) shifted outwards and made contact with IDABELLE (S Khumalo), which in turn bumped JAMBO SANA (C Zackey). b) The saddle on MOTHER OF PEARL (Y Ramzan) slipped forward approaching the 1000m, resulting in the weight bag coming adrift at the 700m. As a consequence, Jockey Y Ramzan weighed back in at 53.2kgs, which was more than 0.5kg under the weight at which he had weighed out (57.5kgs). An objection was lodged by the Clerk of Scales in terms of Rule 66.4 which, after a hearing, was upheld and MOTHER OF PEARL (Y Ramzan) was disqualified. Jockey's Y Ramzan's equipment was inspected by a Stipendiary Steward and found to be in good working order. c) Jockey S Naidoo reported that SPLASH OF GREEN did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. d) PUBLIC BENEFIT, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Mitchley was advised.
