THE STARTER REPORTED: a) WHY NOT JACKIE (O Noach) was restless in the stalls, got its head under the front gate, was unloaded, examined by the course Veterinary Surgeon and withdrawn, causing a delay. b) MUSICAL ARTS (G van Niekerk) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) After leaving the parade ring correctly shod, DIFFERENT FACE (GB) (B Fayd'Herbe) lifted its left front shoe on the way to the start which had to be replaced. b) Leaving the 400m MUSICAL ARTS (G van Niekerk) was held up for a clear run and was directed outwards. Thereafter MUSICAL ARTS (G van Niekerk) was steadied in the concluding stages when close to the heels of PRICELESS (L Mxothwa). c) Jockey R Fourie reported that MULBERRY STREET did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) In view of the report from the starter regarding WHY NOT JACKIE (O Noach), this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and she is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as she proves to be tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 31/08/2023 to 06/09/2023 inclusive). WHY NOT JACKIE may not be presented for re-passing during this period. e) CANDY TOWN, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer WA Nel was advised.
