THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GODSPEED (C Habib) was slow into stride. b) SOVEREIGN STATE (R Khathi) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) PRINCESS OZMA (S Veale) failed to parade in front of the grandstand. Trainer A J Rivalland will be advised that should this filly behave in a similar manner in future, it may be suspended. b) During the loading process CANFORD ICE (S Moodley) became restless and distributed its weight on the back gates. Subsequently this gelding was removed from the starting stalls, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded. c) GODSPEED (C Habib) over-raced in the early stages. d) At the 200m GODSPEED (C Habib) which had come to the end of its run, was steadied momentarily when awkwardly placed between SOVEREIGN STATE (R Khathi), and PRINCESS OZMA (S Veale) which was carried out marginally by PURPLENINJATURTLE (S Khumalo) which rolled out. e) SOVEREIGN STATE (R Khathi) and PURPLENINJATURTLE (S Khumalo) came together and brushed at the finish. f) SOVEREIGN STATE (R Khathi), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
