THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LAST GINGER (N Patel) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) WHIRLYBIRD (R Fourie) over-raced in the early stages. b) NTOMBENHLE (*R A Venniker) was hanging out from the 350m to the 150m. c) Trainer W Whitehead appeared before the Board regarding the improved run of MAURITANIA (C Habib) compared to this filly's previous race on the 17.06.2023. She explained that during the race Jockey K de Melo felt something amiss with MAURITANIA and did not persevere with his ride. The Veterinary Surgeon found nothing untoward after this race. Subsequently this filly suffered a virus and was rested to overcome the virus. Trainer W Whitehead explained that in her opinion this could have accounted for the bad run on the 17.06.2023. The Board accepted her explanation. d) Apprentice K J Lihaba reported that he felt something amiss with QUEEN'S GAMBIT in the running. The Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning QUEEN'S GAMBIT, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this filly is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Suspension dates : 07.09.2023 - 05.11.2023 bdi. Trainer M N Prinsloo was advised (MB). e) MAURITANIA (C Habib), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer W Whitehead advised (NS). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Nil. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil.
