THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DOUBLE DISTILLED (D Ashby) jumped slow, losing two lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. b) SPELLING BEE (C Zackey) and DONTSTOPBELIEVIN' (G Wright) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) The start of this race was delayed due to the delay in the previous race. b) After being taken in behind runners from a wide draw in the early stages, KAAPSE KLOPSE (R Fourie) commenced to over race and got its head up on a number of occasions between the 1000m and the 800m. c) Entering the first turn at the 900m TENANGO (A Domeyer) rolled out and had to be steadied when close to the heels of ORIENTAL CHARM (R Danielson). Thereafter TENANGO (A Domeyer) hung out in the straight. d) WILLIE JOHN (K Matsunyane) was hanging out on the turn. e) DONTSTOPBELIEVIN' (G Wright) raced green and was hanging in in the straight. f) In the concluding stages ORIENTAL CHARM (R Danielson) was carried out marginally by LINDBERGH (G van Niekerk), which shifted out. g) Trainer VH Marshall was charged with a contravention of Rule 8.3.1 in that he failed to have available the registered colours of the owner of HOUSE OF SUSSEX. Trainer VH Marshall signed an Admission of Guilt and was given a warning. h) ORIENTAL CHARM, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B Crawford was advised. (WM) JOCKEY AND/OR EQUIPMENT CHANGES: a) B Fayd'Herbe (HOUSE OF SUSSEX) rode +1.5kg of which 1kg was declared (59.6kgs) b) HOUSE OF SUSSEX (B Fayd'Herbe) raced in club colours RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER a) Nil THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) LINDBERGH - abnormal respiratory noise SCRATCHED: a) PRINCE OF TIBET - overreached left front.
