THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ELUSIVE TRADER (G van Niekerk) was stubborn loading. b) JEWEL CAT (JP van der Merwe) lifted its front legs off the ground as the start was effected and as a consequence jumped slow, losing two lengths. c) RAVENSTHORPE (C Orffer) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) The start of this race was delayed due to the thirty-minute interval between races. b) JEWEL CAT (JP van der Merwe) and RAVENSTHORPE (C Orffer) took an awkward stride at the 600m. c) Leaving the 200m FINAL MOVE (O Noach) and CITYSCAPE (K Matsunyane), which was directed into clear running, were checked and lost position when severely tightened for galloping room between the inside running rail and ROCK ON TOMMY (J Gates), which initially showed a tendency to hang inwards and shifted in away from the crop. d) In view of the report from the Starter regarding ELUSIVE TRADER (G van Niekerk), this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as he proves to be tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 14/09/2023 to 20/09/2023 inclusive). ELUSIVE TRADER may not be presented for re-passing during this period. e) Jockey J Gates was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.7 in that as the rider of ROCK ON TOMMY he failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to runners on his inside when he shifted in leaving the 200m. Jockey J Gates signed an Admission of Guilt and is suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 days. (Dates: to be advised) f) Jockey B Fayd'Herbe was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the carded weight on ELUSIVE TRADER, resulting in a change of rider. Jockey B Fayd'Herbe signed an admission of guilt and was fined R2 000.00. g) CAPTAIN ARROW, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass- Robinson was advised.
