THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BRIGHT GREEN (C Bantam) jumped outwards. b) DOUBLE SUPERLATIVE (G van Niekerk) jumped outwards and made contact with HAPPY CHANCE (K Matsunyane). THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) After the running of Race 7 Jockeys raised concern regarding an area of the track at about the 650m and requested a panel be formed to conduct a track inspection, following which a decision was made by all present that all riders would maintain a position towards the outside of the track and avoid the area of concern in the best interest of safety of both horse and rider and the continuation of the race meeting. As a result, the start time for this race was rescheduled. b) The field kept to the outside and the middle of the course for the entire race. c) Shortly after the start, GIMME'S LASSIE (C Zackey) was squeezed out between DUMBLEDORE (A Andrews) and FIFTY FIVER (O Noach), both of which shifted ground. d) Approaching the 50m Jockey G Wright (ECHO OF LIFE) hesitated with his riding when DUMBLEDORE (A Andrews) rolled in under pressure. e) KING REGENT, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer T Woolard, acting on behalf of Trainer GS Kotzen, was advised.
