THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BACK FOR MORE (R Fourie) was reluctant to load. b) ELUSIVE JEWEL (C Habib) was stubborn loading, causing a delay. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Approaching the 300m ELUSIVE JEWEL (C Habib) was steadied and directed to the inside of IQEMBULABESIFAZANE (M Yeni) to secure clear running. b) Leaving the 50m GLOBAL GODDESS (S Khumalo) had to be steadied when awkwardly placed between the heels of ELUSIVE JEWEL (C Habib) and DEFINING MOMENT (W Agrella), which rolled out marginally. c) BACK FOR MORE (R Fourie) was hanging in in the straight. d) Jockey S Naidoo reported that SPLASH OF GREEN did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. e) Jockey M Mjoka reported that NKALANZINZI made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. f) In view of the report from the Starter regarding ELUSIVE JEWEL (C Habib), this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and she is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as she proves to be tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 16/09/2023 to 22/09/2023 inclusive). ELUSIVE JEWEL may not be presented for re-passing during this period. g) Trainer GD Smith was charged with a contravention of Rule 11.2.8 in that he failed to ensure JAMBO SANA was correctly equipped when presented in the parade ring. Trainer GD Smith signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R500.00. h) IQEMBULABESIFAZANE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GD Smith was advised.
