THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MEDITERANEANGODDES (C Maujean) was nervous in the stalls. b) SYMBOL OF LOVE (C Zackey) jumped slow, losing one length. c) VIHZOE'S MAGIC (J Jacobs) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 50m Jockey M Yeni (GRUE OF ICE) stood up in the irons and steadied his mount when awkwardly placed on the outside of the heels of GOLDEN PACIFIC (S Khumalo), which initially shifted out away from the crop, was straightened and then rolled out marginally. The Stewards, after reviewing this incident from various angles, were of the opinion that Jockey M Yeni had overreacted to the incident at hand and felt that further action was not required. b) The saddle on SYMBOL OF LOVE (C Zackey) slipped sideways in running. This was confirmed by a Stipendiary Steward. c) Jockey R Khathi reported that ISN'T IT BLISS did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. d) In view of the performance of HASTA LAVISTA BABY (R Fourie) (Betting 15/10; Distance 4.60 lengths) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) GOLDEN PACIFIC, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GD Smith was advised.
