THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ARABIAN RED (*M K Katjedi) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) ALL RISE (N Klink) and BOMBER GRIGIO (D De Gouveia) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) ARABIAN RED (*M K Katjedi) hung out from the 500m to 300m. When afforded the opportunity to place on record any factors which may have affected the performance of ARABIAN RED, Apprentice M K Katjedi explained that ARABIAN RED had taken no interest in running and was at a loss to explain the performance given by this filly. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Assistant Trainer W Masawi, acting on behalf of Trainer M F de Kock, was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of ARABIAN RED on return to stables. b) ANTANANARIVO (P Mxoli) hung in from the 300m. c) MARTINIQUE (J R Syster) hung out from the 300m. d) DAME COLLEEN (F Herholdt) commenced to give ground to the field from the 300m. e) ANTANANARIVO (P Mxoli), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
