THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) TRIPPIS TUNE (M Mjoka) was stubborn loading.
b) MY MISTRESS (C Zackey) was nervous in the stalls.
c) GREEK MAFIA (X Ndlovu) jumped slow, losing two lengths.
d) TRIOMPHE (JP van der Merwe), GREY SMOKE (C Maujean), HATFULLOFCHERRIES (S Khumalo) and PANTADOR (L Nhlapo) were slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) SEETHEBADGE (D Schwarz) was hanging out from the 250m.
b) TRIPPIS TUNE (M Mjoka) raced green.
c) Apprentice KJ Lihaba appeared before the Board, accompanied by the Academy Riding Master Mr R Agrella, and was advised that while the Stewards accepted his actions had not cost BRIDGERTON a better position, he was reminded of his obligation to ride his mount out to the end of the race.
d) Jockey C Zackey reported that MY MISTRESS coughed post-race. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
e) In view of the performance of HOWE OF FIFE (W Agrella) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt.
f) Jockey E Webber was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of CAPTAIN EFFICIENT he misused his crop by striking CAPTAIN EFFICIENT more than 12 times (14) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey E Webber signed an admission of guilt and was fined R4000,00.
g) TRIOMPHE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Z Oosthuizen was advised. (LM)
