THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ST CLOUD (A Domeyer) jumped slow, losing two lengths. b) ALMOST IN SEATTLE (M Mjoka), CELTIC VIXEN (JP van der Merwe) and DUMISANI (D Schwarz) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) LADY D'ARBANVILLE (C Zackey) and SAHNISH GIRL (S Naidoo) pulled hard in the early and middle stages. b) Leaving the 1200m HEART OF ETERNITY (*KJ Lihaba) was carried wide by DAWN OF GOLD (S Khumalo), which was hanging out on the turn. c) Approaching the 100m AMAZING COLOURS (L Mxothwa) was bumped heavily and lost momentum when DAWN OF GOLD (S Khumalo) shifted out sharply away from the inside running rail. FIRE GLOW (M Yeni), which was racing on the outside of AMAZING COLOURS (L Mxothwa), was carried outwards as a consequence. A member of the Stipendiary Board called for a race review, which was followed by an objection being lodged by Trainer SB Kotzen, the Trainer of the third-placed horse AMAZING COLOURS (L Mxothwa) against the second-placed horse DAWN OF GOLD (S Khumalo) on the grounds of interference at the 100m. The Objection Board, whilst mindful of the margin of 0.75 lengths between the two horses concerned, took into account the severity of the interference suffered by AMAZING COLOURS (L Mxothwa) and the loss of momentum that occurred, was satisfied that AMAZING COLOURS would have finished ahead of DAWN OF GOLD and therefore upheld the objection and amended the Judge's places accordingly. d) ST CLOUD, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
