THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PARIS LASS (K Matsunyane) reared in the stalls, was taken out, examined by the course Veterinary Surgeon and withdrawn. b) ABOUND (M Yeni) and ISN'T IT BLISS (R Khathi) kicked the back gates of the starting stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) The start of this race was delayed due to the late scratching of PARIS LASS (K Matsunyane) (Betting 11/2) and to allow the betting public time to restructure their bets. b) At the 100m GRANDDADDY PURPLE (D Schwarz) had to be steadied off the heels of ABOUND (M Yeni) when carried inwards by MODERN MAGICIAN (Y Ramzan), which shifted in slightly and was immediately straightened. c) Jockey W Agrella reported he felt something amiss with MASERATI ROAR and eased this gelding out of the race in the latter stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) MASERATI ROAR (W Agrella) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended, for a period of 60 days, from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr E Reynders) e) In view of the report from the Starter regarding PARIS LASS (K Matsunyane) this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and she is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as she proves to be tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 30/09/2023 to 06/10/2023 inclusive). PARIS LASS may not be presented for re-passing during this period. f) GLOBAL FORCE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GD Smith was advised.
