THE STARTER REPORTED: a) EBONY BAY (D Daniels) lost 3 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Jockey A Mgudlwa (IMPARTIAL) appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding his riding tactics in this Race. He explained to the Board that it was this gelding's first attempt over 1800m and he was under the Trainer's instruction to adopt similar tactics as in it's previous races where IMPARTIAL raced in a handy position. However, on this occasion IMPARTIAL took a hold of the bit, commenced to over-race and proved difficult to assist, which resulted in him going so far clear of the field and compounding in the straight. This explanation was corroborated by the video evidence and the Board further reminded Jockey A Mgudlwa of his obligation to ensure that he gives his mounts every chance to finish their races off strongly in future. b) Jockey D Daniels reported that he felt something amiss with EBONY BAY in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) In view of the performance of KHANYISA INDLELA (G Lerena) (6.95 lengths, 28/10 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) FISH EAGLE (R Fourie), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
