THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MIDNIGHT ADVOCATOR (D Schwarz) was stubborn loading and thereafter was nervous in the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) As a result of the steady rain that fell prior to the loading process commencing, the equipment in the head-on tower became saturated, which resulted in the camera and a replacement camera malfunctioning. Horses and riders were returned to the saddling area. Furthermore, the fibre cables in the head-on tower were also damaged. This resulted in the technicians, in consultation with the Stewards, having no other option but to make use of the head-on tower, which normally services the turf track. This caused a lengthy delay to the start of this race, which was then re-scheduled. b) Jockey L Mxothwa was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the carded weight on GRADUATION TIME. Jockey L Mxothwa signed an admission of guilt and was fined R3000.00. c) Shortly after the start WAR SWORD (K Minnie) was steadied when tightened for galloping room between GRADUATION TIME (L Mxothwa) and MIDNIGHT ADVOCATOR (D Schwarz), both of which shifted ground marginally leaving the stalls. d) MISS TUCKER (S Khathi) raced wide on the turn and into the straight. e) At the 400m GRADUATION TIME (L Mxothwa) was momentarily held up when close to the heels of HEARTLIGHT (Y Ramzan). f) At the 200m FUJISAN (M Yeni) was steadied momentarily when awkwardly placed on the inside of HEARTLIGHT (Y Ramzan). g) MISTER WHISTLE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
