THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SUN SPECTACULAR (S Veale) and CABARET (R Khathi) jumped awkwardly. b) FAMILY POWER (O Noach) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Entering the first bend at the 900m Jockey S Veale (SUN SPECTACULAR) was dislodged when his right-side stirrup leather broke. As a consequence, ENCHANTING CHOICE (C Zackey), which was following, was severely checked to avoid the fallen rider and then raced wide for a number of strides on the early part of the turn. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine both SUN SPECTACULAR (S Veale) and ENCHANTING CHOICE (C Zackey). Jockey S Veale was attended to on course by the paramedics and was subsequently stood down by the course Medical Officer and was transported to hospital for further examination. Jockey S Veale's equipment was examined by a Stipendiary Steward and it was found to be in a satisfactory condition. b) Between the 400m and the 300m CHARLENE (L Mxothwa) and TWO A PENNY (C Orffer) raced in restricted galloping room on the inside of the loose horse SUN SPECTACULAR. c) Jockey R Khathi reported that CABARET did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) In view of the performances of A THOUSAND KISSES (G van Niekerk) and CHARLENE (L Mxothwa) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these fillies. e) TICKET TO VEGAS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
