THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) GREAT CAT (L Mxothwa) broke through the front of the stalls shortly before the start was effected, was immediately restrained, returned to the start, examined by the course Veterinary Surgeon and withdrawn, causing a delay.
b) HARD WINTER (K Matsunyane) reacted when GREAT CAT (L Mxothwa) broke through the front of the stalls, became restless, was taken out, examined by the course Veterinary Surgeon and passed suitable to race.
c) BARNBOUGLE (O Noach) was restless in the stalls.
d) CAPTAIN COOL (M Yeni) jumped inwards and made contact with WILLIAM WEST (G van Niekerk).
e) DINA AROBI (C Zackey) jumped slow, losing one length.
f) PEANUT POPS (J Solomons), EINSTEIN (G Wright) and HARD WINTER (K Matsunyane) were slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) At the 250m STAR PERFORMER (A Domeyer) was momentarily inconvenienced and was directed outwards when WILLIAM WEST (G van Niekerk), which was hanging out, rolled out onto the racing line of STAR PERFORMER (A Domeyer).
b) PEANUT POPS (J Solomons) raced green.
c) In view of the report from the Starter regarding GREAT CAT (L Mxothwa), this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and she is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as she proves to be tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 11/10/2023 to 17/10/2023 inclusive). GREAT CAT may not be presented for re-passing during this period.
d) Trainer GW Ennion was charged with a contravention of Rule 10.5.6.1 in that he failed to notify the local office of the National Horseracing Authority within two (2) business days that MAJOR APOLLO had been gelded. Trainer GW Ennion signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R 250,00.
e) WILLIAM WEST, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer C Snaith, acting on behalf of Trainer SJ Snaith, was advised. (WM)
