THE STARTER REPORTED: a) WHAT A TIGER (R Fourie) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) SHOT OF COURAGE (*K J Lihaba) and TRAFALGAR SQUARE (S Moodley) were hanging in from the 300m. b) At the 100m MAJORCA PALACE (*R A Venniker) was switched to the outside of TRAFALGAR SQUARE (S Moodley) to continue its run. Thereafter, in the concluding stages DROGARATI (G Lerena) and MAJORCA PALACE (*R A Venniker) made contact on three occasions and became unbalanced when racing in restricted room between TRAFALGAR SQUARE (S Moodley) and ANOTHERDAYINAFRICA (M Yeni), which was hanging in in the concluding stages and shifted in marginally. A race review was called by a member of the Stipendiary Board with regard to this incident. Having viewed the video evidence, he was of the opinion that multiple factors resulted in the interference and therefore took no further action. c) Jockey G Lerena signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (Appendix E; Guideline M), in that he as the rider of DROGARATI misused his crop by striking this gelding more than 12 times (13) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R2000 was imposed. d) TRAFALGAR SQUARE (S Moodley), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D S Bosch advised (DZ).
