THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FLYING V (J Solomons) was fractious in the stalls, causing a delay and thereafter jumped awkwardly, losing two lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) BALTIC SECRET (G van Niekerk) took a number of awkward strides shortly after the start and thereafter was ridden forward and to the front of the field. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. b) In view of the performance of DOUBLE DREAM (O Noach), which was steadied and taken in behind runners from a wide draw in the early stages, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. c) In view of the report from the Starter regarding FLYING V (J Solomons), this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and she is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as she proves to be tractable with a companion. (Suspension dates: 15/10/2023 to 21/10/2023 inclusive). FLYING V may not be presented for re-passing during this period. d) SPYWING (R Danielson) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended, for a period of 120 days, from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr E Reynders) e) WINTER CLOUD, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised.
