THE STARTER REPORTED: a) During the loading process, SAHARA DAWN (G Lerena) rushed the front gate, was removed from the stalls, examined by the course Veterinary Surgeon and subsequently scratched. b) MISS PLATINA (C Habib) was stubborn loading. Trainer D Nieuwenhuizen was advised to reschool this filly prior to her next engagement (GT). c) SPIRIT IN THE WIND (J Gates) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey Khumalo (BOOM BOOM) appeared before the Board and his attention was drawn to the vigour that he used when encouraging his mount forward with the crop when exiting the stalls. b) Trainer P F Matchett was issued with an Admission of Guilt for a contravention of Rule 39.7.5 in that he failed to vaccinate PHANTOM EXPRESS against Equine Influenza in accordance with the programme of vaccinations as published from time to time in the Racing Calendar. Trainer P F Matchett signed the Admission of Guilt and a fine of R1000 was imposed. c) WOMAN OF POWER (J P van der Merwe), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer P Dhlamini, acting on behalf of Trainer M F de Kock, was advised (LK). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) DOUBLE JOY raced with a cornell collar (declared 24 May 2023). b) MISS PLATINA raced equipped with a compression mask (declared 14 October 2023 at 06H24).
