THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ROYAL VICTORY (C Habib), QUEUE WING (R Fourie) and FIGHT SONG (C Maujean) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) SUN BLUSHED (*R A Venniker) hung out badly around the turn leaving the 1000m, resulting in this gelding racing wide around the turn and into the straight. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer M L Roberts was advised to take measures to improve this gelding's racing manners going forward. b) In the concluding stages ADDABAR (S Moodley) which had come to the end of its run and tired, had to steady when awkwardly placed between CAPE EAGLE (R Khathi) which rolled out and PIRATE PRINCE (M Yeni) which rolled in. c) In view of the performance of REX UNION (C Zackey) (7.15 lengths, 33/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) The Board has adjourned to review Jockey R Khathi's ride on CAPE EAGLE in this race from the 200m to the finish line. e) ROYAL VICTORY (C Habib), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
