The start of this Race was delayed due to AL JAZEERA arriving late at the start after being presented incorrectly equipped in the parade ring. THE APPEAL was stubborn loading and lost one length. GOLDEN GLADIATOR lost one length. In view of the Starter's report with regard to THE APPEAL, this gelding's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and he was suspended for a period of 7 days and until such time as he proves tractable with a companion. THE APPEAL may not be presented for re-passing during this period. In the concluding stages, AL JAZEERA, which was hanging out, had to ease when awkwardly placed on the heels of MOUNT ANDERSON, which was hanging in. Trainer van Zyl signed an admission of guilt for a contravention, in that he presented AL JAZEERA in the parade ring incorrectly equipped for this Race. A penalty of a warning was imposed. Jockey Wright signed an admission of guilt for a contravention, read in conjunction with Guideline M on the use of the crop, in that he struck the horse FRANKIE TWO SHOES, more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey Wright, the Board considered the number of times Jockey Wright struck the horse FRANKIE TWO SHOES, the distance over which and the manner in which Jockey Wright used his crop, and his record in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine was imposed. Additionally Jockey Wright was informed that, should the frequency of his recent contraventions of this Rule continue, a more severe penalty may be imposed. MOUNT ANDERSON was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. GOLDEN GLADIATOR raced with alumites in front, unshod behind. Vet: GOLDEN GLADIATOR and PAY THE PUNTERS - coughing.
