THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) STRING OF LIGHTS (A Arries) broke through the front gates of the starting stalls, was immediately restrained, returned to the start, was examined by the course Veterinary Surgeon, passed suitable to race and reloaded.
b) GRANDIOSA (C Bantam) was restless in the stalls.
c) HELIOTROPE (M Winnaar) jumped slow, losing two lengths.
d) GRANDIOSA (C Bantam) jumped slow, losing one length.
e) GOLD JET (R Danielson) was slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) FATAL GEM (*MK Katjedi) over raced in the early and middle stages.
b) In view of the report from the Starter regarding STRING OF LIGHTS (A Arries) Trainer ELP Steyn will be advised to have this filly re-schooled prior to her next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10.
c) In view of the report from the Starter regarding GRANDIOSA (C Bantam) Trainer C Bass-Robinson will be advised to have this filly re-schooled prior to her next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10.
d) Jockey J Solomons reported that WHATCHMYTAIL took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
e) In view of the performance of FLAMBOYANT FLYER (A Domeyer) (Betting 11/2; Distance 7.50 lengths) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
f) Trainers H Crawford/M Rix were charged with a contravention of Rule 39.7.5 in that they failed to vaccinate TIME FOR LOVE against Equine Influenza in accordance with the program of vaccinations as published from time to time in the Racing Calendar. Trainer M Rix signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1000.00.
g) FATAL GEM, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B Crawford was advised. (TJ)
