THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) KIT KAT CLUB (J Gates) was injured in the stalls and withdrawn by the course Veterinary Surgeon.
b) OVER THE MOON (E Webber) was stubborn loading.
c) WINNING GRACE (*N Nastili) was stubborn loading and thereafter was slow into stride.
d) MAUNA LOA (M Mjoka) was restless in the stalls.
e) VIHAANS CHERRY (S Khathi) and MORE THAN A DREAM (X Ndlovu) were slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) Approaching the 1000m Jockey S Khathi felt something amiss with VIHAANS CHERRY, eased this filly out of the race and dismounted at the 300m. This filly was attended to on the course by the Veterinary Surgeon.
b) OVER THE MOON (E Webber) was hanging out on the turn.
c) Leaving the 600m WINNING GRACE (*N Nastili) brushed the inside running rail and then took a very awkward stride, losing all momentum. Thereafter, Apprentice N Nastili did not persevere with his riding in the straight. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
d) In view of the report from the Starter regarding OVER THE MOON (E Webber) Trainer K Mitchley will be advised to have this filly re-schooled prior to her next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10.
e) In view of the report from the Starter regarding KIT KAT CLUB (J Gates) this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and she is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as she proves to be tractable with a companion. (Suspension dates: 18/10/2023 to 24/10/2023 inclusive). KIT KAT CLUB may not be presented for re-passing during this period.
f) In view of the report from the Starter regarding WINNING GRACE (*N Nastili), this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and she is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as she proves to be tractable with a companion. (Suspension dates: 18/10/2023 to 24/10/2023 inclusive). WINNING GRACE may not be presented for re-passing during this period.
g) Trainer JL van Heerden was charged with a contravention of Rule 11.2.8 in that he presented DANCING IN WINTER incorrectly shod in the parade ring. Trainer JL van Heerden signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R2500.00.
h) DAWN OF GOLD, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GD Smith was advised. (LM)
