THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ISLAND TREASURE (A Andrews) jumped slow, losing one length. b) BENEATH THE MOON (C Bantam) took an awkward stride leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey A Andrews reported that ISLAND TREASURE did not stride out freely in running and he eased this mare out of the race from the 200m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. b) Jockey C Bantam was unable to ride BENEATH THE MOON, which was hanging out from the 300m, to the finish when close to the heels of CLOUD CHASER (G van Niekerk), which shifted in in the concluding stages. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine BENEATH THE MOON (C Bantam). c) Jockey C Zackey (MISS NEW YORK) dropped his right-side rein in the concluding stages. d) TRIP TO MAPUTO, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
