THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ST CLOUD (R Fourie) jumped slow, losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. b) ALADO'S PRIDE (M Mjoka) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Approaching the 400m HEARTSEASE (L Mxothwa) had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the inside of LAUNCH CODE (M Yeni) and close to the heels of THE CHARIOTEER (D Schwarz), which was hanging out on the latter part of the turn and rolled out marginally. In this incident LAUNCH CODE (M Yeni) was brushed on the hindquarters by HEARTSEASE (L Mxothwa) and was momentarily unbalanced. b) At the 100m DOWNING SEVEN (R Khathi), which initially shifted out, shifted in sharply away from the crop and had to be straightened. c) DOWNING SEVEN, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer JVA Strydom was advised.
