THE STARTER REPORTED: a) POURSOMESUGARONME (S Moodley) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) As the start was effected CORNER CRUSADE (C F Dicken) jumped out awkwardly, which resulted in Jockey C F Dicken becoming unbalanced. b) From a wide draw QUANABI (*K J Lihaba) raced wide and without cover from the 1000m. c) PRINCESS OZMA (R Fourie) was hanging in from the 400m. d) In the concluding stages MAGGIE SMITH (C Habib) shifted out sharply and was immediately straightened. e) Jockey C Habib reported that MAGGIE SMITH changed stride continually in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) In view of the performance of PRINCESS OZMA (R Fourie) (6.45 lengths, 5/2 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. g) UMHLALI (*R A Venniker), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
