THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SAFARI BLUE (S Khumalo) was nervous in the stalls. b) INHERIT THE RAIN (C Maujean) and KHAYA'S HOPE (L Mxothwa) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Approaching the 400m NARCOS (E Webber) rolled out and bumped SAFARI BLUE (S Khumalo). b) Jockey S Khumalo reported that, after being bumped at the 400m, SAFARI BLUE felt uncomfortable in its action and he did not persevere with his riding from the 200m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) Jockey S Moodley reported that AL QAASIM made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) KHAYA'S HOPE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GD Smith was advised.
