THE STARTER REPORTED: a) WOODLAND RETREAT (M Thackeray) rushed the front gates, was removed, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded. b) TARA STAR (S Moodley) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) MEL'S PRINCESS (*R A Venniker) was hanging out from the 300m. b) WOODLAND RETREAT (M Thackeray) was hanging in badly from the 300m. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) VALERIAS DREAM (C Zackey) was hanging in, in the latter stages. Jockey C Zackey reported that VALERIAS DREAM did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) At the 150m FORT J'ADORE (C Habib) was momentarily inconvenienced when awkwardly placed on the heels of LUCKY MISS (*K J Lihaba) which shifted out away from the crop. Apprentice K J Lihaba appeared before the Board with regard to this incident and was advised to take timeous corrective measures when shifting ground in races in future. e) Jockey A Mgudlwa (FAIZAH) reported that the saddle slipped backwards in the running. This was confirmed by the Veterinary Surgeon. f) LUCKY MISS (*K J Lihaba), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D C Howells advised (HM). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) FAIZAH raced equipped with blinkers (advised 21.11.2023/21h05). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) WOODLAND RETREAT : Mouth injury. b) VALERIAS DREAM : Not striding out right front.
