THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) FRENCH SCRIPT (X Ndlovu) was stubborn loading and jumped slow, losing three lengths.
b) OVER THE MOON (E Webber) was stubborn loading and jumped slow, losing one length.
c) KIT KAT CLUB (D Schwarz), MIA RAGAZZA (K Minnie) and ROYAL VENUS (M Mjoka) jumped slow, losing one length.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) Jockey P Mxoli was kicked behind the starting stalls and as no other rider was available the Stewards withdrew LAVA FIELDS, causing a delay. Jockey P Mxoli was subsequently stood down by the course doctor for the remainder of the race meeting. Rule 25.12 was not applied.
b) MIA RAGAZZA (K Minnie) was hanging in from the 250m.
c) Jockey R Fourie reported that he felt something amiss with CAPTIVATE and he did not persevere with his riding from the 200m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly.
d) In view of the report from the Starter regarding FRENCH SCRIPT (X Ndlovu) Trainer AC Greeff will be advised to have this filly re-schooled prior to her next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10.
e) Jockey R Khathi was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the carded weight on RAIN BIRD, or at the higher weight confirmed in his engagement with the Trainer. Jockey R Khathi signed an admission of guilt and was fined R1000.00.
f) JUST FOREVER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer JP Nel was advised. (LM)
