THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) LANDINGONTHEMOON (D Schwarz) and WAR SWORD (M Mjoka) were nervous in the stalls.
b) HE'S A GAUL (K Minnie) jumped slow, losing one length.
c) JOE HARMAN (Y Ramzan) was slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) SMART MASTER (E Webber) and SUNDROP (X Ndlovu) pulled hard in the early stages.
b) Jockey R Khathi reported that he felt something amiss with WOLFRAM. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
c) In view of the performances of JOE HARMAN (Y Ramzan) and LANDINGONTHEMOON (D Schwarz) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these geldings.
d) Jockey L Mxothwa was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the carded weight on JOE HARMAN, or at the higher weight confirmed in his engagement with the Trainer, resulting in a change of rider. Jockey L Mxothwa signed an admission of guilt and was fined R5000.00.
e) Jockey D Ashby was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.3 in he failed to ride BELLE'S FIRST WAVE out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stipendiary Stewards, thereby prejudicing his chances of obtaining 5th place. Jockey D Ashby signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1650.00
f) MALDANO, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Mitchley was advised. (LM)
g) HE'S A GAUL, unplaced, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Mitchley was advised. (LM)
