THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SANDRINGHAM SUMMIT (G Lerena) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) MEXICAN PETE (M Yeni) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Approaching the 1400m, SANDRINGHAM SUMMIT (G Lerena) was steadied when awkwardly placed between FIRE 'N FLAMES (D Schwarz) and MEXICAN PETE (M Yeni), which rolled out entering the turn, this resulted in SANDRINGHAM SUMMIT (G Lerena) losing momentum and giving ground to the field. Jockey G Lerena reported that following this incident SANDRINGHAM SUMMIT never travelled well for the remainder of the race. b) Approaching the 700m, SANDRINGHAM SUMMIT (G Lerena) was carried out by SOVEREIGN STATE (G van Niekerk), which made contact with the inside rail, was unbalanced and shifted out. c) Jockey R Fourie reported that THE AFRICA HOUSE took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) PURPLE PITCHER (K Matsunyane), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
