THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GODDEX APHAEA (A Andrews) refused to load and was withdrawn, causing a delay. b) FLAMBOYANT FLYER (G Wright) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 1100 SAINT BRIGID (D Ashby) rolled out away from the inside running rail, clipped the heels of CICADIDAE (G Lerena) and stumbled, losing momentum. b) At the 400m QHAWEKAZI (R Fourie) was directed outwards to avoid racing onto the heels of FAIRFIELD (R Danielson). c) In the concluding stages, a tiring REDROSEOFLANCASTER (M Winnaar), which had raced prominently in the early stages, was steadied when awkwardly placed on the outside of NATIONAL DISGRACE (L Mxothwa). d) In view of the report from the Starter regarding GODDEX APHAEA (A Andrews), this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and she is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as she proves to be tractable with a companion. (Suspension dates: 03/12/2023 to 09/12/2023 inclusive). GODDEX APHAEA may not be presented for re-passing during this period. e) ETERNAL OPTIMIST, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AE Sands was advised.
