THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ANGELSEA (D Schwarz) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Approaching the 900m SYMBOL OF LOVE (E Webber), which over raced in the early stages, had to be steadied, shifted in and made contact with the hindquarters of BABY LOVE (S Khumalo) when racing tight on the inside of LOOKING HOT (L Mxothwa), which shifted in slightly. Jockey L Mxothwa (LOOKING HOT) appeared before the Board and was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. b) At the 150m LOOKING HOT (L Mxothwa) and SYMBOL OF LOVE (E Webber) brushed. c) Jockey R Fourie reported that HASTA LAVISTA BABY made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) Jockey S Khumalo reported that BABY LOVE did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) Jockey R Khathi was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the carded weight on SYMBOL OF LOVE, or at the higher weight confirmed in his engagement with the Trainer, resulting in a change of rider. Jockey R Khathi signed an admission of guilt and was fined R3 000.00. f) ESTHER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
