GIFT FOR THE GAP and NOBLE SECRET were slow into stride. HERO'S HONOUR was slow losing two lengths. Apprentice Ferraris reported that he felt something amiss with RETURN FLIGHT in running. Trainer Tarry will be requested to report back to the Board on the condition of this filly on return to stables. NOBLE SECRET over-raced in the early stages and thereafter Jockey Simons reported that he felt something amiss with NOBLE SECRET in running. Jockey De Gouveia reported that APACHE TOO changed stride continually in running. JET START was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Apprentice Gumede signed an Admission of Guilt for a contravention, read with Guideline M on the use of the crop, in that he struck JET START more than twelve times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Apprentice Gumede, the Board considered the number of times he struck the horse, the distance over which and the manner in which his crop was used. Accordingly a penalty of R1000 was imposed. Vet: RETURN FLIGHT - examined post race, nothing obvious detected. NOBLE SECRET - not striding out left hind. APACHE TOO - not striding out left front.
