THE STARTER REPORTED: a) TYPICALLY FRENCH (D Ashby), DANCE MASTER (K Steyn), and MONKEY PUZZLE (L Mxothwa) were restless in the stalls. b) TYPICALLY FRENCH (D Ashby) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Leaving the 100m DANCINGTOTHELIGHT (G van Niekerk) had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the inside of COUNTER ATTACK (A Domeyer), which rolled in and had to be straightened. b) Between the 450m and the 300m DANCINGTOTHELIGHT (G van Niekerk) had difficulty securing clear running. c) In view of the performance of MONKEY PUZZLE (L Mxothwa), which gave ground to the field quickly from the 400m and was not persevered with in the latter stages, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) Trainer PD Reeves was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.1.1 in that he declared Jockey R Danielson to ride DANCE MASTER without having obtained his prior consent. Trainer PD Reeves signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1 000,00. e) CHAMPAGNE MAC, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B Crawford was advised.
