THE STARTER REPORTED: a) COLORAMA (Y Ramzan) was nervous in the stalls. b) GRUE OF ICE (M Yeni) was nervous in the stalls and rushed the front gates. c) VANDALISE (R Fourie) fly-jumped leaving the stalls and struck the front gate, losing two lengths. d) ANGELSEA (D Schwarz) and WINTER JOURNEY (E Webber) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) WINTER JOURNEY (E Webber) raced without cover in the early stages and, as a consequence, proved difficult to settle and raced wide on the turn until passing the 500m. b) In view of the performance of VANDALISE, which failed to respond to Jockey R Fourie's urgings and was not persevered with in the latter stages, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) Jockey J Gates reported that MIA REGINA changed stride continually in the latter stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) Jockey M Yeni was charged with a contravention of Rule 56.4.1.3 in that he failed to proceed to the parade ring immediately after being instructed to do so by the Clerk of Scales. Jockey M Yeni signed an admission of guilt and was fined R500,00. e) Jockey D Schwarz was charged with a contravention of Rule 56.4.1.3 in that he failed to proceed to the parade ring immediately after being instructed to do so by the Clerk of Scales.
