THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) LINES CROSSED (A Andrews) and KING'S RANSOM (R Fourie) made contact leaving the stalls and, as a consequence, were slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) Trainer GW Ennion, despite numerous attempts, was unable to fit the declared tongue tie on WYAG (L Mxothwa) and this gelding was subsequently withdrawn. Trainer GW Ennion was advised not to declare WYAG to race equipped with a tongue tie until he can demonstrate to the Stewards that this equipment can be fitted to this gelding.
b) For a short distance approaching the 200m, WYLIE JACK (C Bantam) raced in restricted galloping room between the inside running rail and SWIFT ACTION (K Steyn).
c) Jockey R Fourie (KING'S RANSOM) was held up for a clear run between the 200m and the 50m.
d) At the 150m HAMMIES HERO (M Winnaar) and WILLIAM WEST (G van Niekerk) made contact and had to be steadied for a number of strides when HAMMIES HERO (M Winnaar) shifted outwards marginally away from BOOGIEFIELD (C Orffer), which was hanging out and shifted out gradually, and ALL ABOUT AL (G Wright), which changed stride, shifted inwards and had to be straightened. The Stewards, after reviewing this incident, were satisfied that when this incident occurred, a number of horses had been racing in close proximity and the movement from ALL ABOUT AL (G Wright) and BOOGIEFIELD (C Orffer) had been marginal. Therefore, the Stewards concluded that blame could be attached to either Rider. However, both Jockeys C Orffer and G Wright appeared before the Board and were advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
e) ALL ABOUT AL, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AN Marcus was advised. (SC)
f) LINES CROSSED, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GW Ennion was advised. (DD)
