THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LITTLEMARYSUNSHINE (N Klink), SAY YES (J Gates), LET'S GO NOW (P Mxoli) and KWAZZI'S LADY (K A Brewer) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) SAY YES (J Gates) proved reluctant to canter to the start and had to be led. Trainer A P Peter was advised that should this filly behave in a similar manner in future, she may be suspended. b) HIGH ROLLER (J R Syster) over-raced in the early stages. c) Shortly before the finish line, RED MAPLE (*S Sosibo) was carried out by LET'S GO NOW (P Mxoli), which shifted out away from the crop. d) In view of the performance of WITBLITS (C Habib), (distance 10,25 lengths, betting 18/10), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Trainer A P Peter was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of WITBLITS on return to stables. e) Jockey N Klink reported that LITTLEMARYSUNSHINE took no interest in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. f) Jockey D Schwarz was charged with a contravention of Rule 62.2.11 in that he mishandled TERRA TIME, by striking her on two occasions with his crop en route to the start. Jockey D Schwarz signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R 5000 was imposed. g) JULIET TANGO (S Moodley), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer L Karriem advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) SAY YES was ridden by Jockey J Gates (declared 30 December 2023 at 08H18). b) WITBLITS: Jockey C Habib weighed out at 53,3kg, 0.5kg over the carded weight as declared. c) TERRA TIME: Jockey D Schwarz weighed out at 55,4kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) WITBLITS examined post race, nothing obvious detected. b) LITTLEMARYSUNSHINE fatigued; tied up post race. c) JULIET TANGO cast its right front shoe in running. d) LET'S GO NOW fatigued.
